Back-to-school season is an exciting time for many children as they look forward to the year ahead, but unfortunately, some children don’t have access to the supplies they need for a successful school year. Providing kids with back-to-school supplies increases classroom participation, attendance and student morale.
The Backpacks for Success program provides students in kindergarten through grade 12 in Windsor-Essex County with backpacks filled with grade-appropriate supplies. Backpacks and books are distributed to children through existing United Way programs and other non-profit partners serving children and youth before the school year begins, but financial donations are welcome year-round.
What’s In A Backpack?
Paper, pencils, pens, markers, erasers, sharpener, pencil case, binders, duotangs, highlighters, ruler, and a calculator.
How Can You Help?
In 2021, 2,000 backpacks filled with school supplies and $15,000 in Staples gift cards were handed out to students in Windsor-Essex County. For just $25, you can support one student with a backpack.
